Gate Installation FAQ – Gate Technologies

How long does it take to install a gate system?

Installation time varies depending on the scope of work. A standard automated swing gate or slide gate installation typically takes 1–3 weeks, depending on site conditions, power availability, and gate size. Custom fabrication or concrete work may add time.

What types of gates do you install?

We install swing gates, slide gates, bi-fold gates, cantilever gates, and vertical pivot/lift gates. We work with steel, aluminum, ornamental iron, and specialty materials to match the architectural style of your property.

Do I need power at the gate location?

Yes, power is required for electric gate openers and access systems. If power is not already available, we can coordinate trenching and conduit installation or work with your electrician to ensure proper service.

Can you automate an existing manual gate?

In many cases, yes! We can evaluate your existing gate and recommend the right gate operator and access control system to bring it up to modern standards.

What access options are available?

We offer a variety of access solutions including:

  • Keypads and intercoms

  • Remote controls and clickers

  • Smartphone entry (WiFi or cellular)

  • Vehicle sensors and loop detectors

  • Card/fob systems

  • License Plate Recognition (LPR) for commercial systems

What is the difference between a swing and slide gate?

  • Swing gates open inward or outward like a door and require clear space.

  • Slide gates run along a track or cantilever system and are ideal for tight or sloped spaces.
We’ll recommend the best fit based on your property layout and needs.

Do you offer custom gate designs?

Yes! We provide fully custom gate design and in-house fabrication. You can choose from a variety of styles, finishes, and decorative elements to match your home or facility.

What areas do you serve?

We install and service gates throughout Western Washington, including Seattle, Renton, Spanaway, Auburn, Redmond, Federal Way, and surrounding areas.

Do you handle permits or HOA approval?

We assist with site planning, permit coordination, and can provide all documentation needed for HOA approval.

What kind of warranty do you offer?

Our installations include a 1-year workmanship warranty, and we support manufacturer warranties on gate operators, controls, and access devices. Maintenance plans are also available.
